Origins – Casey Renee Cosplay

Casey is a costume, garment sewing, and embroidery educator, award winning cosplayer, and author of “Cosplay Foundations: Your Guide to Constructing Bodysuits, Corsets, Hoop Skirts, Petticoats & More”. Casey is incredibly passionate about cosplay craftsmanship and making sewing accessible to others. She loves sharing her experience and helping the cosplay community as a whole learn new things and celebrate each other’s cosplay construction journey.

Casey currently resides in Louisville, Kentucky where she teaches garment sewing at Made Stitch Co and works part time as a wig maker at Custom Wig Company. Introduction to Tambour Embroidery

Tambour embroidery is a couture sewing technique used to make detailed embroidered pieces of all sizes. This class will teach the chain stitch which is the foundation of Tambour and from there we will build upon that foundation with beads and sequins. Please note, these photos are just examples of what you will learn.

How to Sew Pain in the Butt Fabrics

In this class you will learn about the different needles, thread, and sewing feet needed to sew with difficult fabrics like stretch vinyl, tulle, and more. This class also comes with cheat sheets you get to take home with you as well as a digital course you can refer to whenever you like.

How to Make a Hoopskirt

In this class you will learn about the different materials used to make a hoop structure. You will also get to use some high quality materials to make a mini hoop skirt that is yours to take home with you.

Smocking: Creating Dimension by Manipulating Fabric

Do you want to add texture and depth to future sewing projects? Smocking is a great skill to learn and apply to costumes, garments, quilts and more! Learn how to do dragonscale, lattice and flower smocking in this class! You will get to learn these three smocking techniques plus take home stencils so that you can apply these techniques to future sewing projects.

Introduction to Embellishments

Have you ever dreamed of adding beadwork to your costumes? Well now is your chance to learn how to sew trim, beads, and sequins onto your costumes with award winning cosplayer, Casey Renee. In this class you will learn the basics of embellishing for costumes, clothes and even quilts. You will start by learning how to sew trim onto fabric. From there you will learn how to sew sequins and beads in a straight line, individually, and onto the trim that you previously stitched down.
